Hiking
The final approach to Qaranohur Lake involves a 5-6 km hike from Talistan village, the starting point for most visitors. From the center of Talistan, follow the marked trail leading into Shahdag National Park. The path gradually ascends through a pistachio forest, crossing a riverbed (often dry in late summer). Continue past the forest, following the trail alongside a high rock wall with mountain views. The final section becomes steeper as you approach the lake. Note that a park entrance ticket is required, obtainable at the park entrance in Talistan village. The trek begins at an altitude of 900 meters above sea level and ascends to Lake Qaranohur at 1,540 meters. This means an elevation gain of approximately 600 meters. Cost: Park entrance fee is approximately 5 AZN per person.
Taxi
For a more comfortable option, you can take a taxi from anywhere in Gabala to Talistan village, the starting point of the hike to Qaranohur Lake. Simply ask your hotel or a local for a taxi service. The ride will take about 20 minutes from Gabala. Cost: The taxi ride should cost around 10-15 AZN.
