  • Taxi/Ride-Share

    From anywhere in the Southern Region, book a taxi or ride-sharing service to Al Areen Zoo, Unnamed Road, Zallaq. The fare will vary depending on your starting point but can generally range from 3-5 BHD. From Zallaq center, expect to pay approximately 1-2 BHD for the taxi ride, which should take about 10 minutes.

  • Public Transport

    From Zallaq, take a local bus towards the Southern Governorate. Ask the driver to drop you off near Al Areen Wildlife Park. From the drop-off point, it is a short walk to the entrance of Al Areen Zoo on Unnamed Road. Bus fares vary, so have cash ready. Expect to pay approximately 1-2 BHD for a taxi from Zallaq center to the zoo if the bus doesn't drop you close enough.

    If driving from anywhere in the Southern Region, head southwest on Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Highway (Highway 5). Follow signs for Zallaq. Take the exit towards Zallaq and continue straight until you see signs for Al Areen Wildlife Park. The zoo is located at 2F8V+CRP, Al Areen wildlife park, Birds area, Unnamed Road, Zallaq. Ample parking is available on-site at no additional fee.

Al Areen Zoo, officially named Al Areen Wildlife Park, is a nature reserve and zoo in Sakhir, Bahrain, established in 1976. Al Areen was the first project of its kind in the region, with the goal of preserving endangered Arabian animal species and plants. The park is divided into two sections: a public park and a restricted reserve dedicated to breeding programs. The park spans over 8 square kilometers and houses over 45 species of animals, 82 species of birds, and 25 species of flora. Visitors can observe animals from the Arabian Peninsula, East Africa, North Africa, and Asia. The park is home to the Arabian oryx, Persian gazelle, cheetahs, lions, giraffes, and various bird species.
