Himchari National Park, established in 1980, is a major national park and nature reserve in Bangladesh. Encompassing approximately 1,729 hectares (17.29 km2) of mixed evergreen forest, the park is located in the Cox's Bazar District, southeast of the country. It's situated mainly on hills, bordering the Bay of Bengal to the west, offering a unique blend of terrestrial and marine environments. The park is known for its diverse flora and fauna, including over 100 species of trees, 55 species of mammals, 56 species of reptiles, 13 species of amphibians, and 286 species of birds. While Asian elephants once roamed here, a limited number still visit. Other mammals include the Leopard Cat, Fishing Cat, Wild Boar, and more. Birdwatchers will be delighted by the extensive birdlife. One of the park's main attractions is the Himchari Waterfall, cascading down the hillside. While it dwindles in the winter, it's a fabulous sight during the monsoon season. Visitors can climb stairs to the hilltop for spectacular views of the green hills and blue waters. The nearby sea beach is also popular for its red crabs. Visitors can explore trails through the lush rainforest, enjoy panoramic views from lookout points, and spot diverse wildlife.
