Getting There

Car

From Bridgetown, follow Highway 2 NE towards Speightstown. Turn left onto Highway 2A towards Connell Town. Continue until you reach Morgan Lewis Windmill. Parking is available near the entrance. Note that the drive takes approximately 40 minutes. Parking is free.
Public Transport

From Saint Joseph, take a minibus to Bridgetown and ask the driver to drop you off at Cherry Tree Hill. This journey takes about 30 minutes, and the fare is around BBD 2.00. From the drop-off point, it's a short walk (approximately 10 minutes) up Morgan Lewis Road to the windmill. Check the minibus schedule, as they may not run frequently. The fare is BDS$3.50.
Taxi

From Saint Joseph, a taxi ride will take around 15 minutes and cost approximately BBD 20.00 to BBD 30.00. From Grantley Adams International Airport to Saint Andrew by taxi is approximately BBD $132. Always confirm the price before starting your journey. The taxi can drop you off right at the entrance of Morgan Lewis Windmill.

Morgan Lewis Windmill, situated in the scenic hills of St. Andrew, offers a commanding view of Barbados's east coast. Built in 1727, this wind-driven mill was once used to crush sugarcane. It is the only intact sugar mill in Barbados and one of only two in the Caribbean. The mill ceased operations in 1947 and was later given to the Barbados National Trust for preservation as a museum. A restoration project, completed in 1999, ensured the mill's original working parts were preserved. During the crop season, from February to July, the sails are put in place, and cane is ground one Sunday each month. Visitors can explore the interior of the mill, which houses a museum of sugar mill and plantation artifacts, and an exhibition of old photographs. The walls of the mill are constructed from boulders held together with egg whites and coral dust, a unique construction method from when cement was unavailable. The Grind Artisan Cafe, located next to the windmill, offers views of the east coast and countryside.
