BOZAR: Brussels' Art Deco Cultural Hub

Experience art, music, and culture in Brussels' iconic Art Deco masterpiece, BOZAR, the Centre for Fine Arts.

4.5

The Centre for Fine Arts, commonly known as BOZAR (a play on 'Beaux-Arts'), is a vibrant cultural center in the heart of Brussels. Designed by renowned Art Nouveau architect Victor Horta, the building itself is an Art Deco masterpiece. Construction began in 1923 and concluded in 1929, overcoming numerous funding and site challenges. BOZAR was conceived as a multidisciplinary space, uniting various art forms under one roof to foster creativity and cultural exchange. Over the years, it has hosted countless exhibitions, concerts, and performances, showcasing both Belgian and international talent. The building has undergone renovations and expansions to accommodate its growing program while maintaining its architectural integrity. Horta's innovative use of reinforced concrete and steel allowed for vast, open spaces, while the facade incorporates Belgian hardstone. The Henry Le Bœuf Hall, the main concert hall, is celebrated for its exceptional acoustics and stunning Art Deco design. Today, BOZAR offers a diverse program, including visual arts, music, theatre, dance, literature, cinema, and architecture. Its exhibition spaces host a wide range of shows, from ancient art to contemporary installations. BOZAR is committed to inclusivity and accessibility, offering guided tours, workshops, and educational activities for all ages. Located in the Mont des Arts, BOZAR is easily accessible and surrounded by restaurants, cafes, and shops. It stands as a symbol of Brussels' identity as a vibrant, cosmopolitan city with a rich artistic heritage.
