To reach Hoogpoort in Ghent from Aalst, start by heading to the Aalst train station, located at Stationstraat 1. Once there, purchase a ticket to Ghent. Trains to Ghent leave regularly, so check the schedule on the digital displays. Board the train heading to 'Gent-Sint-Pieters', which is the main station in Ghent. The journey takes approximately 15-20 minutes. After arriving at Gent-Sint-Pieters, transfer to tram line 1 or 4 towards 'Gent Centrum'. Get off the tram at the stop 'Korenmarkt'. From Korenmarkt, it is a short 5-minute walk to Hoogpoort. Head east on Korenlei, then turn left onto the Hoogpoort street. You will find Hoogpoort on your right.

Start your journey at the Aalst bus station, located near the train station. Take bus line 90 towards Ghent. Make sure to check the bus timetable for the next departure. The bus ride will take about 30-40 minutes. Get off at the stop 'Gent Geraard de Duivelsteen'. From there, walk towards the city center. Head towards the 'Korenmarkt', which is a famous square. Once at Korenmarkt, it is just a 5-minute walk to Hoogpoort. Walk east along Korenlei, then turn left onto Hoogpoort street. You will see Hoogpoort on your right.

Bicycle
If you prefer to cycle, you can rent a bike in Aalst. Start at the city center, and follow the bicycle path towards Ghent. The route is approximately 15 kilometers and will take around 45 minutes to an hour. Follow the signs for the Flanders Cycle Route, which will guide you through beautiful landscapes. Enter Ghent via the Korenlei, and then navigate towards Korenmarkt. From Korenmarkt, walk east for about 5 minutes until you reach Hoogpoort, which will be on your right.

If you are already in Aalst, walk towards the Aalst train station. From there, take a train to Ghent. Once you arrive at Gent-Sint-Pieters, walk for about 5 minutes to the tram stop and take tram line 1 or 4 towards 'Gent Centrum'. After getting off at Korenmarkt, you are just a short 5-minute walk from Hoogpoort. Head east along Korenlei, turn left onto Hoogpoort street, and you will find your destination on the right.
