    From the Ginneken district, Castle Bouvigne is accessible via a pleasant walk, taking you through the outskirts of Breda and towards the Mastbos forest. Follow the Bouvignelaan, which leads directly to the castle entrance. The walk is approximately 30-40 minutes from the Ginneken center. No costs involved.

Castle Bouvigne, locally known as Kasteel Bouvigne, is a captivating castle located south of Breda, near the Mastbos forest. The castle's history dates back to 1494, with the first mention of a stone house on the De Boeverie estate. The current castle began construction in 1548 and was renovated in 1611, giving it its present form. Over the centuries, Castle Bouvigne has had many owners, including Philip William, Prince of Orange, in 1614. In 1637, it served as Prince Frederick Henry's headquarters during the siege of Breda. The castle fell into disrepair and was almost demolished until Jan Daniel Engel bought and restored it in 1775. In 1901, Leopold de Bruyn acquired the castle and laid out the present gardens. Since 1972, the Brabantse Delta Water Board has owned the estate. The castle gardens are a highlight, featuring French, English, and German styles. These gardens, created between 1913 and the 1930s, showcase a variety of flora, sculptures, and unique designs. Visitors can explore the gardens for free on weekdays. Although the castle interior is not open to the public, it can be rented for wedding ceremonies. Castle Bouvigne offers a serene and historical experience for tourists and locals alike.
