It was destroyed in World War I, and a concrete replacement was built in 1933 and renovated in 2003. The walkway was restored to its original 1933 design in 2023.

Walking
From the Blankenberge train station, turn left onto Oostendse Steenweg. Walk straight for approximately 900 meters until you reach the beach. Turn right and walk along the promenade for about 1.5 kilometers to reach Esplanade du Pier, located near the pier.
Public Transport
From Bruges, take the De Lijn bus route 40 to Blankenberge Station. From the Blankenberge bus station, it's a short 10-minute walk to Esplanade du Pier. Head towards the beach, and you will see Esplanade du Pier along the coastline. A single bus fare from Bruges to Blankenberge is approximately €3.
Driving
From Bruges, take the E403 motorway and follow the signs for Blankenberge. Once in Blankenberge, follow signs to the beach area. Esplanade du Pier is located on the coast. Street parking is available nearby, but fees may apply. Several parking zones are available, including red (€2.50/hour, 9 AM - 7 PM), orange (€7.50/day), and blue (2 hours free with parking disc, 9 AM - 6 PM). Private car parks are also available, such as Centre car park (Kerkstraat 122).
