Located in the enchanting town of Bouillon, the Pont de Cordemois is a captivating bridge that embodies the area's rich history and natural beauty. The bridge's history dates back to 1930 when it was constructed by architect Henri Vaes at the request of the Orval Abbey. It was built on the site of a former ferry service to create a connection to the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Clairefontaine, also known as the Abbaye de Cordemois, located three kilometers away. The bridge replaced the need for the ferry service. The structure is primarily concrete, but its schist cladding and essential form evoke medieval constructions, lending it a picturesque appearance. The bridge was destroyed during World War II but was reconstructed to its original design. The Pont de Cordemois serves as an ideal starting point for exploring hiking trails in the area. It provides access to a lovely walking trail on the other side of the river, offering great views of Bouillon Castle. The bridge is located near a park, making it a perfect spot for picnics and leisurely hikes.
