Bus
From the center of Hasselt, head to the nearest bus stop, which is likely at 'Hasselt Station'. Look for Bus Line 20 or 21 that goes towards 'Ans'. Board the bus and make sure to ask the driver to let you know when you reach 'Loncin'. The journey should take around 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the 'Loncin' stop, exit the bus and walk towards Rue des Héros. The Fort de Loncin will be approximately a 15-minute walk from the bus stop, heading northeast on Rue des Héros.
Train and Bus
Start at Hasselt Train Station. Take a train towards Liège-Guillemins. After about 15 minutes, get off at Liège-Guillemins Station. From there, transfer to Bus Line 21 in the direction of 'Ans'. Stay on the bus for about 20 minutes, and disembark at the 'Loncin' stop. Walk towards Rue des Héros for about 15 minutes to reach Fort de Loncin.
Walking
If you enjoy walking and are up for a longer trek, you can walk from Hasselt city center to Fort de Loncin. Start at the 'Hasselt Market Square' and head towards the northeast exit of the city. Follow 'Wellenstraat' and merge onto 'Kermtstraat', which will lead you towards 'Loncin'. The walk is approximately 8 kilometers and will take around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace. Follow the signs towards 'Ans' and ensure to use a map app to stay on track.
Bicycle
For those who prefer cycling, rent a bicycle in Hasselt and head towards Fort de Loncin. Start at the 'Hasselt Market Square' and follow the bike lanes towards 'Wellenstraat'. Continue cycling until you reach 'Kermtstraat', which leads directly to 'Ans'. The total distance is about 8 kilometers and should take around 30-40 minutes, depending on your cycling speed. Make sure to follow local cycling regulations and keep an eye out for traffic.
