Getting There

• Walking

  From the center of Ypres, head towards the main square, the Markt. Look for the large Cloth Hall (Lakenhalle) which is a prominent landmark. From the Cloth Hall, walk straight down the main road, Boterstraat, until you reach the Ypres Railway Station. Once at the station, take the train towards Lille. The train journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Lille's main station, Gare de Lille Flandres, exit the station and find the signs for 'Place Augustin Laurent'. It's about a 10-minute walk from the station. Head northeast on Rue de Tournai, turn right onto Rue de la Gare, and continue until you reach Place Augustin Laurent where the Beffroi de Lille is located.

• Bus

  From Ypres, make your way to the Ypres bus station located near the town hall. Take bus line 14 towards Lille. This will take you directly to Lille and drops you off close to the city center. Once you arrive, walk towards the main square and ask locals for directions to Place Augustin Laurent. It’s a well-known location, so you should find it easily. The whole journey including the bus ride and walking should take around 1 hour.

• Train

  Start from Ypres Railway Station, which is centrally located. Purchase a ticket to Lille at the station. Trains run frequently, approximately every 30 minutes. The train ride to Lille will take around 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Lille, exit the train and follow the signs to the city center. Walk towards Rue de Tournai and then follow the street signs to Place Augustin Laurent. It’s about a 10-minute walk from the station to the Beffroi de Lille. Make sure to check the train schedule in advance to ensure a smooth trip.
