Getting There

  • Car

    From the center of Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve, head southeast on the main gravel road towards the village of San Ignacio. Follow the road for approximately 10 miles until you reach the junction with the Hummingbird Highway (Highway 1). Turn right onto the Hummingbird Highway and continue for about 5 miles. Look for signs directing you to Good Living Camp. Turn left onto the road that leads to Good Living Camp and follow the signs for another 2 miles until you arrive at the base of The Sleeping Giant Mountain. Parking is available at the base.

    To reach The Sleeping Giant Mountain via public transportation, start by taking a local bus from Mountain Pine Ridge to San Ignacio. Once you arrive in San Ignacio, look for a bus heading towards Belmopan on the Hummingbird Highway. Inform the driver that you want to get off at the Good Living Camp stop. This journey will take approximately 30-40 minutes. From the bus stop at Good Living Camp, you can either walk (approximately 2 miles) or hire a local taxi to take you directly to the base of The Sleeping Giant Mountain. Taxi fares may vary, so be sure to agree on a price before starting your journey.
