If you're driving, start from Cotonou and head north on Route Nationale 1 towards Ouidah. After approximately 40 km, follow the signs for Ouidah. Once you arrive in Ouidah, look for Avenue de la République and follow it until you reach the center of town. Pythons Temple is located near the coast, so continue following the signs for the temple or ask locals for directions if needed. There is parking available near the temple area.
Public Transportation - Bus
Take a local bus from Cotonou to Ouidah. Buses leave from the main bus station in Cotonou, and the fare is usually around 1,000 CFA francs. The journey takes about 1 to 1.5 hours. Once you arrive at the main bus station in Ouidah, you can walk to Pythons Temple, which is about a 20-minute walk. Follow Avenue de la République towards the coast, and ask locals for directions if needed.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct option, you can hire a taxi from Cotonou to Ouidah. This will cost around 15,000 CFA francs and will take approximately 40 minutes, depending on traffic. Once you arrive in Ouidah, you can either walk to Pythons Temple or ask your driver to take you directly to the temple entrance.
Motorbike Taxi (Zemidjan)
In Ouidah, you can also opt for a motorbike taxi, known as a Zemidjan, which is a fast and inexpensive way to navigate the area. From the main bus station, you can hire a Zemidjan for around 500-1,000 CFA francs to take you directly to Pythons Temple. Just be sure to negotiate the fare before starting your ride.
