Car
If you're driving to Jakar Dzong, start from the main town of Lhuntse. Head east on the Lhuntse-Jakar Road (also known as the Lhuntse-Bumthang Road). Continue for about 23 kilometers until you reach the junction near the village of Chuchot. Take a left at the junction and follow the signs to Jakar. After approximately 15 kilometers, you will arrive in Jakar town. The dzong is located near the Jakhar Dzongkhag Office, in the heart of Jakar.
Public Transportation
To reach Jakar Dzong using public transportation, take a bus from Lhuntse town to Jakar. The journey typically takes around 2-3 hours, depending on road conditions. Buses leave several times a day from the Lhuntse bus station. Make sure to check the schedule ahead of time, as frequencies may vary. Once you arrive in Jakar, the dzong is located within walking distance from the bus terminal. Simply head towards the Jakhar Dzongkhag Office, and you will find Jakar Dzong nearby.
Taxi
For a more comfortable travel option, you can hire a taxi from Lhuntse to Jakar. This option provides flexibility and can take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic and road conditions. Taxi fares can vary, so it's advisable to negotiate the price before starting your journey. Upon reaching Jakar, the dzong is easily accessible from the main road.
Walking
If you are already in Jakar and wish to reach Jakar Dzong on foot, it's a pleasant walk from the town center. Head towards the Jakhar Dzongkhag Office, and the dzong is adjacent to this office. The walk should take around 15-20 minutes, allowing you to enjoy the local scenery along the way.
