Travel Guide to Zhazela Community Forest

Getting There

• Car

  From Lhuntse town, head north on the main road. Continue for approximately 12 kilometers until you reach a fork in the road. Take the left fork, which is marked towards Zhazela Community Forest. After about 5 kilometers, you will see a sign for Zhazela Community Forest on your right. Follow this road for another 7 kilometers until you reach the entrance of the forest. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for rural roads and be cautious of potential potholes.

• Public Transportation

  From Lhuntse town, board a local bus or shared taxi heading towards the nearby villages. You can ask locals for the next bus to Zhazela. The fare is usually around 50-100 Ngultrum. Inform the driver of your destination, and they will drop you off at a junction near Zhazela Community Forest. From there, you will need to walk approximately 3 kilometers along a dirt path leading directly to the forest entrance. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry enough water for your walk.

• Walking

  If you are already near Zhazela Community Forest, you can walk from the nearest village or junction. Follow the path leading towards the forest. It is important to have a map or ask locals for directions, as the paths can be unmarked. The walk can take about 1-2 hours depending on your starting point and pace. Always be prepared with appropriate gear and sufficient water.
