Car
If you are driving from Mongar Town, head west on the main highway (National Highway 6) towards Samdrup Jongkhar. The drive is approximately 3 hours, covering a distance of about 120 kilometers. Follow the road signs to Samdrup Jongkhar. Once you approach Samdrup Jongkhar, look for the signs directing you to the Indo-Bhutan Border Gateway. The gateway is located on Bhutan Rd in Chapna N.C. Your destination will be on your right, just outside the town.
Public Transportation
To reach the Indo-Bhutan Border Gateway by public transportation, start by taking a local bus from Mongar Town to Samdrup Jongkhar. Buses leave regularly from the Mongar Bus Station, and the journey takes about 3 hours. Ensure you have enough cash for the fare, which typically costs around 100-150 BTN. Upon arrival at the Samdrup Jongkhar Bus Station, you can take a taxi or a local shared vehicle to the Indo-Bhutan Border Gateway. This last leg will take approximately 15-20 minutes and should cost around 50-100 BTN.

For a more direct option, you can hire a taxi from Mongar to the Indo-Bhutan Border Gateway. Taxis are available in Mongar Town, and you should negotiate the fare in advance. The taxi ride will take about 3 hours and may cost between 2,500 to 3,500 BTN depending on your bargaining skills and the condition of the vehicle.
