Getting There

Walking
From the main clock tower in Thimphu (the heart of the city), head south on Norzin Lam. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with the road leading to Dechencholing. Take a left onto the road towards Dechencholing. Follow this road for about 1.5 kilometers. You will pass several small shops and local eateries on your way. Keep an eye out for signs indicating Dechencholing Palace. As you approach, you will see the palace on your right. The Bhutan king's home is located within the palace grounds, which may have restricted access, so be mindful of any signage or guidelines.

Walking
If you are starting from the National Memorial Chorten, exit the grounds and turn left onto the main road. Walk towards the Tashichho Dzong, which is approximately 1 kilometer away. Once you reach the Dzong, continue along the road leading to Dechencholing. This road will eventually lead you towards the Bhutan king's home. It’s about a 20-30 minute walk from the Memorial Chorten. Be sure to enjoy the scenic views along this route.

From Changangkha Lhakhang, exit the temple and head down the hill towards the main road. Once you reach the main road, turn left and continue walking until you reach the junction with Norzin Lam. Turn right onto Norzin Lam and follow it until you reach the intersection leading to Dechencholing. This route will take you through some local neighborhoods and give you a glimpse of daily life in Thimphu. The Bhutan king's home will be located on your left as you approach the Dechencholing Palace.
