Walking
Starting from Wangdue Phodrang town center, head north towards the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong. Once you reach the Dzong, take the path that leads downhill. Continue walking along the main road, which will gradually ascend. You will pass by local shops and small villages. Keep an eye out for direction signs pointing towards Drukgyel Dzong. After approximately 3 kilometers of uphill walking, you will arrive at the entrance of Drukgyel Dzong. Make sure to enjoy the scenic views along the way!
Trekking
For those looking for a more adventurous route, start your trek from the village of Chuzom, which is about 5 kilometers northeast of Wangdue Phodrang. Follow the marked trekking trails that wind through the lush forest and up the hills. The trek will take you past beautiful landscapes and local flora and fauna. After about 2 hours of trekking at a moderate pace, you will reach Drukgyel Dzong, where you can explore the ruins and take in the breathtaking views.
