If you have a rental car, start your journey from the town of Coroico, a popular base in Yungas. Drive along the main road (Route 3) towards La Paz. After approximately 40 kilometers, keep an eye out for signs directing you to Pilón Lajas Biosphere Reserve. The turning is approximately 5 km before reaching the town of Chulumani. Follow the dirt road; it can be bumpy, so drive carefully. The total driving time from Coroico is approximately 1.5 hours.

To use public transportation, start at Coroico's main bus terminal and take a minibus heading to Chulumani. Buses run frequently throughout the day. The fare is around 10-15 Bolivianos. Once you reach Chulumani (approximately a 1-hour ride), you will need to find a local taxi to take you to the entrance of Pilón Lajas Biosphere Reserve. The taxi fare from Chulumani to the reserve is about 30 Bolivianos. Ensure you arrange for the taxi to wait for you, as return transport may not always be readily available.
