Discover more about Crooked Bridge

Kriva Ćuprija, or the Crooked Bridge, is a delightful historical landmark in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Constructed in 1558 during Ottoman rule, this small stone bridge gracefully arches over the Radobolja River. It is considered the oldest single-arch bridge in Mostar and served as inspiration for the iconic Stari Most (Old Bridge). Located a mere 30 meters west of the Stari Most, the Crooked Bridge offers a more serene and intimate experience. Its single, semi-circular arch spans 8.56 meters in diameter and stands 4.15 meters high, approached by stone steps. The bridge is made from local stone, which has weathered beautifully over time. While the Old Bridge is a symbol of connection between communities, the Crooked Bridge is said to represent the resilience of the people of Mostar. The bridge was destroyed in the floods of 2000, but was reconstructed in 2001 with the help of UNESCO and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Today, it stands as a testament to Mostar's enduring spirit and architectural heritage. Visitors can enjoy the Crooked Bridge year-round, and there is no admission fee. The surrounding area offers charming cafes and restaurants with scenic outdoor dining. The bridge is particularly beautiful at dusk, when the lighting creates a magical atmosphere.
