Discover more about Fortica

Fortica, derived from the Italian word for fortress ('fortezza'), is a well-established name for the hill above Mostar, offering more than just stunning views; it's an adventure into Bosnian wilderness. Historically, the hill has been a gathering place and a canvas for expressing local sentiments, from honoring Emperor Franz Josef I during Austro-Hungarian rule to displaying love for Josip Broz Tito in the 1970s. Today, Fortica is known for its outdoor activities. The main attraction is the zipline, once the longest in Bosnia and Herzegovina, providing an unforgettable descent with panoramic views of Mostar. For those who prefer to keep their feet on the ground, well-marked hiking trails cater to various skill levels, offering views of the city, the iconic Stari Most (Old Bridge), and the Neretva River. In addition to the zipline, Fortica offers a skywalk, climbing routes leading to a historic World War II bunker, and mountain biking trails. The remains of military fortifications from both World Wars add historical context to the natural beauty. The mountain lodge provides food and drinks, making it an ideal place to relax and soak in the scenery.
