Discover more about Štrbački buk Bosnia

Štrbački Buk stands as the most impressive waterfall within Una National Park, a protected area established in 2008 to safeguard the pristine Una River and its tributaries. The waterfall isn't just a single drop, but a series of cascades that create a mesmerizing spectacle of water plunging over travertine deposits. The surrounding landscape is characterized by rugged cliffs and lush greenery, offering a dramatic and picturesque scene. The waterfall's origin is linked to tectonic movements that shaped the region. Historically, the area around Štrbački Buk was adorned with numerous mills reminiscent of the dwellings of the Japodi tribe, who inhabited the area for the last 1000 years of the old era. These sojenicas, wooden houses built over the water on oak posts, served as a testament to the ingenuity of the people who harnessed the river's power. Today, Štrbački Buk offers various recreational opportunities. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks along the riverbank, hike the forest paths, and explore the diverse ecosystems of Una National Park. The clear, emerald-green waters of the Una River provide a refreshing escape during the summer months, with swimming, kayaking, and rafting being popular activities. Several observation decks and wooden bridge paths offer the best vantage points for viewing the falls.
