The Central Kalahari Game Reserve has three main entry points: Matswere Gate (north-east), Xade Gate (west), and the Southern Gate (via Khutse Game Reserve). Access requires a 4x4 vehicle due to sandy tracks. From Maun, take the road towards Rakops and follow signs to Matswere Gate, approximately 250 km. From Ghanzi, head towards Xade Gate, about 350 km. Ensure you have sufficient fuel and supplies for your entire stay, as there are no facilities within the reserve. Entrance fees for foreign visitors are approximately BWP 190 per adult per day, BWP 95 per child (8-17 years), and BWP 75 per vehicle per day. Cash in Botswana Pula is recommended, as credit card facilities may not be available.

The most convenient way to reach the Central Kalahari Game Reserve is by charter flight from Maun or Gaborone. Several lodges within the reserve have their own airstrips. Flight times are typically 1-2 hours, depending on the destination. Contact your chosen lodge or tour operator to arrange flights and transfers. Keep in mind that luggage restrictions may apply on small charter flights. Pre-booking accommodation and transfers is essential.
