To reach Khwai Hippo Pools from Maun, take a local taxi (also known as a 'combination taxi') from the central market area. Inform the driver that your destination is Khwai Hippo Pools. The journey takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on road conditions. Expect to pay around 30-40 Pula within Maun's city limits, but the price will be higher for the trip to Khwai Hippo Pools. Negotiate the price beforehand.
Public Transport

Normal taxis in Maun operate on set routes and cost around 8 Pula for a ride within the city. However, for destinations outside the normal route, such as Khwai Hippo Pools, it becomes a 'special taxi,' and the fare will be significantly higher. Alternatively, combis (vans) run from the bus station along specified routes. Route 1 goes north to the airport and camps north of town. Check with locals for the most up-to-date combi schedules and routes.
