Imperial Plateau: A Natural Sanctuary Near Brasília

The Imperial Plateau (Chapada Imperial) is a privately-owned ecological reserve located in Brazlândia, approximately 50 km from Brasília, offering a serene escape into nature. Created in 1999 within the Fazenda Dois Irmãos, the area has been preserved since 1985. This natural sanctuary is dedicated to the protection, conservation, and promotion of the Cerrado biome, one of the most threatened ecosystems in Brazil. Visitors can explore a variety of trails alongside the Dois Irmãos stream, with options for all fitness levels. The short, 1 km trail is ideal for families with children, featuring three waterfalls. The medium, 3 km trail leads past up to 15 waterfalls, while the longest, 4 km trail offers the chance to see as many as 30 waterfalls. Beyond the waterfalls, Chapada Imperial offers activities such as zip-lining and tree climbing. The reserve is a haven for birdwatchers, with opportunities to spot diverse species of local fauna, including armadillos, monkeys, and capybaras. The best time to visit is during the cooler months between May and October.
