Praça dos Cristais, also known as Praça Cívica, is a captivating urban park located in Brasília, Brazil. Designed by the renowned landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx and his assistant Haruyoshi Ono, the plaza was inaugurated in 1970 and spans 102,000 square meters. The park's design draws inspiration from the rock crystals found in Cristalina, Goiás, featuring geometric concrete sculptures that mimic these natural formations.The park provides a tranquil retreat from the city's hustle, featuring a large reflecting pool, lush gardens, and pathways. Originally, the gardens housed 53 plant species native to the Cerrado biome. Visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls, admire the artistic installations, and attend cultural events hosted throughout the year. The plaza is particularly enchanting in the evening when the crystal structures are illuminated.Praça dos Cristais is located in front of the Army Headquarters in the Setor Militar Urbano. While primarily a garden, it offers shaded areas, grassy expanses, and paved sections with Burle Marx's signature floor designs.
