Naufragados Beach, or "Shipwrecked Beach," is situated on the southernmost point of Santa Catarina Island. Its name originates from a tragic shipwreck in 1753, when two vessels carrying Azorean immigrants sank near the coast. The survivors sought refuge on the beach, and many bodies were buried there.Today, Naufragados Beach is a protected area within the Tabuleiro State Park, preserving its natural environment.
