Discover more about Parque das Aves

Nestled beside the world-famous Iguaçu Falls, Parque das Aves offers a unique and unforgettable experience, immersing visitors in the vibrant world of Brazilian and global birdlife. This 16-hectare sanctuary is home to over 1,300 birds representing around 150 different species, with a focus on the conservation of birds from the Atlantic Forest. Founded in 1994 by Anna and Dennis Croukamp, Parque das Aves began with a passion for birds sparked by a grey parrot. Today, it stands as Latin America's largest bird park, dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and conserving birds, many of whom have been victims of animal trafficking or habitat destruction. The park features several immersive aviaries where visitors can walk among macaws, toucans, and other colorful birds. The experience extends beyond birds, with reptiles like alligators, anacondas, and boa constrictors also calling the park home. Don't miss the butterfly house, where you can observe diverse butterfly species and hummingbirds. Parque das Aves is not just a tourist attraction but also a center for environmental education and conservation. It plays a vital role in protecting endangered species and raising awareness about the importance of preserving the Atlantic Forest. Visitors can explore the park through a self-guided U-shaped trail, approximately 1,600 meters long, encountering environmental educators along the way to answer questions and provide insights. The park is open daily from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, with a visit typically lasting between one and three hours.
