Parque das Aves is more than just a bird park; it's a sanctuary committed to the preservation of the Atlantic Rainforest and its avian inhabitants. Today, it stands as the largest bird park in Latin America, housing over 1,300 birds from approximately 130 different species. The park's mission extends beyond mere exhibition; it actively participates in the rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation of birds, many of which have been victims of animal trafficking or habitat destruction. Over 50% of the birds at the park come from apprehensions. Visitors can explore five immersive aviaries, each designed to replicate the natural habitats of the birds, offering close encounters with macaws, toucans, flamingos, and other vibrant species. The park also features a butterfly house, adding to the biodiversity on display.Parque das Aves plays a crucial role in conservation efforts, including projects focused on endangered species like the Blue-fronted Amazon Parrot and the Red-browed Amazon Parrot. The park integrates ex situ (under human care) and in situ (in the natural environment) methods to improve the conservation status of the guan. Through education and research, Parque das Aves strives to raise awareness about the importance of protecting the Atlantic Rainforest and its unique biodiversity.
