Discover more about Parque das Aves

Parque das Aves, nestled in the heart of the Atlantic Rainforest near the world-renowned Iguaçu Falls, offers a unique and unforgettable experience. Founded in 1994 by Anna and Dennis Croukamp, the park began with a passion for birds and a commitment to conservation. Today, it stands as Latin America's largest bird park, spanning 16 hectares and providing a sanctuary for over 1,300 birds of approximately 130 species. The park's mission extends beyond mere exhibition; it's deeply rooted in the conservation of Atlantic Rainforest birds, many of which have been rescued from situations of animal trafficking or mistreatment. Over 50% of the birds at the park come from apprehensions, and a substantial number are bred onsite. Parque das Aves actively participates in several species conservation programs, including projects focused on the Blue-fronted Amazon Parrot and the Red-browed Amazon Parrot. Visitors can explore the park through a network of trails leading to various immersive aviaries. These aviaries allow guests to get up close and personal with a variety of bird species, including macaws, toucans, and flamingos. The park also features a butterfly house, where visitors can observe numerous butterfly species and hummingbirds. The experience provides an educational opportunity to learn about the importance of preserving the Atlantic Rainforest and its inhabitants. Parque das Aves is not only a sanctuary for birds but also contributes to the local community through environmental education programs. The park receives approximately 830,000 visitors each year, including around 30,000 students from regional schools who participate in free environmental education programs. This initiative helps connect people with nature and promotes engagement in conservation efforts. In addition to its conservation and educational efforts, Parque das Aves offers unique experiences such as the Backstage Experience, which allows visitors to get a closer look at the park's conservation work and interact with some of the birds. The park is open daily from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, providing ample opportunity to explore its wonders.
