Discover more about Parque das Aves

Parque das Aves, neighboring the world-renowned Iguaçu Falls, is more than just a bird park; it's a vital conservation center for the birds of the Atlantic Rainforest. Founded in 1994 by Anna and Dennis Croukamp, the park began with a passion for birds and a commitment to protecting Brazil's natural heritage. Today, it stands as Latin America's largest bird park, welcoming over 800,000 visitors annually. The park spans 16.5 hectares of lush, reforested Atlantic Rainforest, providing a natural habitat for its inhabitants. Visitors can explore a 1.5km trail that winds through five immersive aviaries, bringing them face-to-face with macaws, toucans, flamingos, and many other vibrant species. These aviaries offer a unique opportunity to observe the birds up close, often with the birds flying freely around you. Parque das Aves plays a crucial role in rescuing and rehabilitating birds that have suffered from mistreatment or animal trafficking, with over 50% of its residents having been rescued. The park also actively participates in several species conservation programs, including projects for the Blue-fronted Amazon Parrot and the Red-browed Amazon Parrot. Beyond conservation, Parque das Aves is committed to environmental education, welcoming thousands of students each year to learn about the importance of preserving the Atlantic Rainforest. In addition to its avian residents, the park is home to reptiles like alligators, anacondas and boa constrictors, as well as other wildlife such as marmosets and iguanas. Visitors can also enjoy the butterfly house, which hosts numerous butterfly and hummingbird species. The park also offers unique experiences such as the Backstage Experience, where visitors can get a closer look at the park's conservation and recovery efforts, and the Forest Experience, which provides an immersive meeting with members of the local Mbya-Guarani tribe.
