In the 1960s, it was dedicated as a viewpoint and named in honor of the governor's wife. Today, Mirante Dona Marta is favored for its ease of access and status as a free attraction, offering a less crowded, more tranquil experience compared to Sugarloaf or Corcovado.The viewpoint itself features a large platform and a helipad, providing slightly different perspectives. The surrounding area sometimes features colorful murals and sculptures, adding an artistic touch. It's a popular spot for photographers, especially during sunrise and sunset when the city is bathed in golden light.
