Leblon's history is intertwined with the city's evolution, having once been a remote area that served as a refuge for runaway slaves. The neighborhood is named after Charles Leblon, a French businessman who owned land in the area in the 19th century.Today, Leblon Beach is renowned for its calm waters and family-friendly environment. Baixo Bebê, a dedicated children's area near Posto 12, provides a playground for toddlers. The beach offers stunning views of the iconic Dois Irmãos (Two Brothers) mountains, providing a picturesque backdrop for sunbathers and swimmers. Walking
From Ipanema Beach, walk west along the shoreline, past Jardim de Alah (Allah's Gardens), which marks the border between Ipanema and Leblon. The walk is approximately 15-20 minutes, offering scenic views of the coastline. No costs involved.
Public Transport
From Copacabana, take the Metro Line 1 or 4 to Antero de Quental station in Leblon. From the station, it's a short walk (5-10 minutes) to the beach. A single metro ticket costs R$7.50. Alternatively, several bus lines connect Copacabana and Leblon; look for buses with 'Leblon' on the signboard. Bus fares are around R$4.70.
