From the Rio Grande Public Library, walk east along Rua General Neto, turn left on to Rua Silva Paes, then turn right onto Rua Marechal Floriano Peixoto. Walk two blocks, and the plaza will be on the left.

    Praça Tamandaré, located in the center of Rio Grande, Rio Grande do Sul, is a monumental space, 316 meters long and 140 meters wide, totaling 44,124 m². It is a vibrant hub where locals and tourists gather to enjoy the scenery and engage in cultural activities.The plaza is adorned with contemporary sculptures and provides an inviting space for leisurely strolls, social gatherings, and outdoor events. It also functions as an urban bus terminal, connecting citizens to various points in the region.Inside the Praça, there is a sculpture of a woman with a jug. The statue of Napoleon, brought from Senandes in the mid-20th century, is another point of interest. Other monuments include the tomb of General Bento Gonçalves, inaugurated in 1909, the bandstand, the fountain of the little angels, the monument to Brother Isício, a tribute to the Press, an image of Jesus in the lake, the iron statue “Venus bathing”, the bust of Admiral Tamandaré, and the bust of Professor Luis Franca Pinto.Praça Tamandaré is a living testament to the history and culture of Rio Grande. The plaza was named in honor of Admiral Joaquim Marques Lisboa in 1865.
