Located in the heart of Miri City, the Miri Handicraft Centre is a modern building that serves as a focal point for the ethnic and cultural products of northern Sarawak. The center promotes local arts and handicrafts, making it a must-visit destination for tourists and locals alike. Originally, the site was the Miri Community Hall, which opened in 1958 and hosted various local events. In 2001, it was converted into the Miri Heritage Center to promote local handicrafts and arts. The building underwent a major upgrade in 2016 and was relaunched as the Miri Handicraft Centre in September 2017. Inside the center, visitors can explore a wide array of handcrafted items made by local natives. These include woven bags, wood carvings, beads, traditional clothing, paintings, and musical instruments. The center features stalls run by individual producers, where artisans can often be seen at work. The Miri Handicraft Centre aims to support local artisans by providing a space to sell their products. Sarawak is known for its diverse range of handicrafts, including Orang Ulu beadwork, Iban Pua Kumbu textiles, Bidayuh Kesah mats, and Malay Kain Songket.
