Discover more about Ulu Temburong National Park

Ulu Temburong National Park, often called the 'Green Jewel of Brunei,' is a remarkable 50,000-hectare protected rainforest in the Temburong District. Established in 1991, it stands as a testament to Brunei's commitment to preserving its natural heritage. The park is part of the Heart of Borneo conservation agreement, aimed at safeguarding a large forested region considered to be Asia's last great rainforest. Visitors can explore the park's rich biodiversity through a series of well-maintained trails and plank walkways. The highlight for many is the Canopy Walk, a series of steel structures rising up to 43 meters above the forest floor. Reaching the top requires climbing over 700 steps, a challenge even for experienced hikers, but the 360-degree views of the rainforest canopy are well worth the effort. The journey to Ulu Temburong is an adventure in itself. Typically, it involves a speedboat ride from Bandar Seri Begawan to Bangar, followed by an overland trip to Batang Duri, and finally a longboat ride to the park. Along the way, you'll witness the transition from city life to the serene beauty of the mangroves and rainforest. Within the park, you can discover hidden waterfalls, swim in natural pools, and perhaps even spot some of the local wildlife, including various bird species and maybe even a proboscis monkey. For an immersive experience, consider an overnight stay at one of the eco-lodges, allowing you to witness the rainforest at sunset and sunrise and take part in a night jungle walk.
