Getting There

Car
From the center of Makamba, head south on Avenue des Martyrs towards the main road (RN1). Continue on RN1 for approximately 12 kilometers. Once you reach the town of Nyarumanga, look for signs directing you to Mount Heha. The mountain is located just outside the town, and you can park your vehicle at the nearest accessible area. Please note that the road conditions may vary, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended, especially during the rainy season.

To reach Mount Heha via public transport, take a bus or a shared taxi from Makamba to Nyarumanga. Buses depart from the main bus station in Makamba and typically cost around 1,000 BIF (Burundian Francs). The journey will take approximately 30-45 minutes depending on traffic. Once you arrive in Nyarumanga, you can either walk to the base of Mount Heha or hire a local taxi or motorcycle taxi (known as 'moto') for a small fee (about 2,000 BIF) to take you closer to the hiking trail.
