Pier 7: A Scenic Gem of San Francisco

Getting There

• Bus

  From downtown Berkeley, head to the nearest bus stop on University Avenue. Take the AC Transit Bus Line 800 towards San Francisco. Stay on the bus for about 30 minutes until you reach the Transbay Terminal in San Francisco. Once you arrive, exit the bus and walk towards Howard Street. Turn left onto Howard Street and walk to the Embarcadero. Continue straight until you reach Pier 7, which will be on your right.

• BART Train

  Make your way to the nearest BART station in Berkeley, which is the Downtown Berkeley Station. Purchase a ticket to the Embarcadero Station in San Francisco. The train ride will take approximately 20 minutes. Once you arrive at the Embarcadero Station, take the escalators up to street level. Walk towards the waterfront and follow the signs to Pier 7, which is located along the Northern Waterfront.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from one of the local bike rental shops in Berkeley. Head south on Shattuck Avenue until you reach the Berkeley Marina. From there, follow the bike path along the waterfront towards the Golden Gate Fields. After crossing the bridge, continue cycling along the waterfront until you reach Pier 7 in San Francisco. This route offers beautiful views of the bay and the city skyline.

• Walking

  Starting from the UC Berkeley campus, walk down Telegraph Avenue towards downtown. Continue onto University Avenue, which will take you directly to the ferry terminal. Take the ferry from the Berkeley Marina to the San Francisco Ferry Building. Once you arrive at the ferry building, walk along the Embarcadero towards Pier 7, which is just a short walk away.
