    Getting There

    BART

    To reach Portsmouth Square from Berkeley, take the BART train from any station in Berkeley (e.g., Downtown Berkeley Station). Board a train heading towards San Francisco/Daly City. Travel for about 20 minutes and get off at the Montgomery St. station. Once you exit the station, walk northwest on Montgomery St. for about 0.3 miles, which will take approximately 7 minutes. Turn left onto Kearny St., and Portsmouth Square will be on your right at 745 Kearny St.

    Bus

    From Berkeley, you can take the AC Transit Bus Line 1 or 1R towards San Francisco. Board the bus at any nearby stop on the route. Stay on the bus until you reach the Transbay Terminal in San Francisco. Once there, walk to the Montgomery St. BART station, which is about a 5-minute walk. From Montgomery St. station, walk northwest on Montgomery St. for about 0.3 miles (7 minutes), then turn left onto Kearny St. Portsmouth Square will be on your right at 745 Kearny St.

    If you are close to the downtown area of Berkeley, you can walk to Portsmouth Square. Start by heading south towards University Ave. Walk west until you reach the intersection with Shattuck Ave. Follow Shattuck Ave. south until you reach the Downtown Berkeley BART station. From there, follow the BART directions above. Alternatively, if you prefer walking the entire way, you can follow the same route as the BART travel by walking along Shattuck Ave. all the way to the city of San Francisco, which is quite a long trek (around 12 miles).
