Opening times, essentials, and a few local tips gathered into one calmer, easier-to-scan planning section.
Public Transport
To reach Griffith Park via public transport, take the Metro Red Line to the Vermont/Sunset station. From there, transfer to the DASH Observatory/Los Feliz shuttle, which runs every 15-20 minutes. The shuttle makes stops throughout Los Feliz village, the Greek Theatre, and the Griffith Observatory. The fare for the DASH shuttle is $0.50. Alternatively, several bus lines serve the perimeter of the park, requiring a walk into the park's interior.
Ride Share
If arriving by ride share, input a specific destination within Griffith Park, such as the Griffith Observatory or the Los Angeles Zoo, to ensure accurate routing. From central Hollywood, a ride-share to the Griffith Observatory typically costs between $15 and $25, depending on traffic and demand. Note that during peak times, surge pricing may apply.
Driving
When driving to Griffith Park, be aware that traffic can be heavy, especially on weekends and holidays. Parking is available throughout the park, but it can be limited, particularly at popular attractions like the Griffith Observatory. Paid parking is enforced near the Observatory, with fees increasing during peak seasons and holidays. As of July 2025, parking fees around the Observatory are approximately $10 per hour. Free parking may be available in the Greek Theatre parking lot when there are no events, with a connecting DASH shuttle to the Observatory for $0.50.
