Discover more about Pasadena Memorial Park

Pasadena Memorial Park, one of the city's oldest parks, provides a tranquil retreat with a rich history. Originally established as Library Park in the 1880s, it quickly became a focal point for the community. Pasadena's first public library, a Romanesque stone building, was built here in 1890, largely funded by public donations, symbolizing the city's reverence for literature and art. Although the library was deemed unsafe after the 1933 Long Beach earthquake and demolished in 1954, its entrance arch was preserved as a memorial to Pasadena's pioneers. The park's landscape has evolved over the years. In 1902, it was redesigned with a network of paths, open lawns, and diverse trees and shrubs. A Civil War monument was dedicated in 1906, and in 1930, the Art Deco Gold Band Shell (now Levitt Pavilion) was constructed, hosting concerts and activities. Today, visitors can enjoy walking paths, flower beds, play areas, and various memorials. Memorial Park hosts community events throughout the year, fostering a sense of togetherness. The park is conveniently located near the Metro Gold Line (A Line), making it easily accessible. Whether you're interested in history, nature, or simply a peaceful escape, Pasadena Memorial Park offers a unique blend of tranquility and community spirit. The park is open daily from 6 AM to 10 PM.
