Public Bus
If you are in Chula Vista, head to the nearest bus stop and take the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) Bus Route 701 towards the 'Downtown San Diego' direction. You can board the bus at stops like 'Chula Vista Center' or 'Otay Ranch Town Center'. Stay on the bus for approximately 30-40 minutes until you reach 'Seventh Avenue & Broadway' in downtown San Diego. From there, transfer to Bus Route 30 towards 'La Jolla'. After about 20 minutes, get off at the 'La Jolla Shores' stop. From there, it's a short 10-minute walk to Shell Beach. Head west on La Jolla Shores Drive, turn left onto Calle de la Plata, and continue straight until you reach the beach.

Bicycle
For a scenic route, consider biking from Chula Vista to Shell Beach. You can rent a bike from local rental shops and start at the Chula Vista Bayfront Park. Follow the bike path along the waterfront heading north. Continue on the bike path until you reach the 'San Diego Bay Trail'. Stay on the trail, which will lead you through scenic views and connect you to the 'Silver Strand' bike path. Once you reach Coronado, use the bike path to cross the Coronado Bridge. After crossing, you can bike along the coast, taking the Pacific Coast Highway (Route 101) north until you reach La Jolla. From La Jolla, take Torrey Pines Rd. west, then turn left onto La Jolla Shores Drive. Continue until you arrive at Shell Beach.

If you're feeling adventurous, you can walk part of the way to Shell Beach. Start at the main tourist area in Chula Vista, such as the Chula Vista Marina. Walk towards the coast, heading north along the water. Follow the pathways and sidewalks that lead you to the Sweetwater River Trail. Follow the trail until you reach the San Diego Bayfront. Once at the bay, you can continue walking north along the water until you reach downtown San Diego. From there, transition to the waterfront promenade and continue along the coast until you reach La Jolla Shores. Shell Beach is a little further west from La Jolla Shores, but it is a beautiful walk along the coast with stunning views.
