From downtown Inglewood, walk to the nearest bus stop on Market St / Hillcrest Blvd. Take the Metro Bus Line 40 towards the Hollywood/Western Station. Ride for approximately 30 minutes and get off at the stop at Hollywood Blvd / Highland Ave. From there, transfer to the Metro Bus Line 156 towards Mulholland Dr. After about 20 minutes, get off at the Mulholland Dr / Laurel Canyon Blvd stop. Walk approximately 10 minutes east along Mulholland Dr to reach the Universal City Overlook at 7701 Mulholland Dr.

If you are near the Inglewood Forum, you can walk to Universal City Overlook. Head north on S Prairie Ave towards W Manchester Blvd. Turn right onto W Manchester Blvd and walk for about 0.5 miles until you reach S La Brea Ave. Turn left on S La Brea Ave and continue until you reach the Hollywood Freeway (I-101). There, you will need to find a bus stop to take public transit, as the Overlook is not within walking distance from Inglewood itself.
