Walking
From central Irvine, head east towards the nearest bus stop. Catch the OC Bus Route 1 heading towards San Clemente. After approximately 30-40 minutes, disembark at the Cristianitos Rd stop. Once you get off the bus, walk south on Cristianitos Rd for about 0.5 miles, and you will reach San Mateo Campground on your left.

Biking
If you have a bike, start from the Irvine Spectrum Center. Head south on the Jeffrey Trail and follow the trail until you reach the San Diego Creek Trail. Continue on the creek trail until you reach the intersection with Cristianitos Rd. From there, turn right and ride for about 1 mile until you reach San Mateo Campground, which will be on your left.

Public Transit and Walking
Begin at the Irvine Transportation Center. Take the Metrolink train towards San Juan Capistrano. After about 25 minutes, get off at the San Clemente station. From there, you can catch the OC Bus Route 5 towards San Clemente. Get off at the Cristianitos Rd stop, and walk south on Cristianitos Rd for about 0.5 miles to reach San Mateo Campground.
