Bus
From downtown Laguna Beach, head to the nearest bus stop on Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). Look for the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) bus service. You can take Bus Route 1, which travels along the coast. Stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the San Clemente Pier station. From there, walk towards the beach, following the signs to San Onofre State Beach, which is around a 15-minute walk along the Old Pacific Highway.
Bicycle
If you're up for some adventure, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Laguna Beach. Ride south along the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) towards San Clemente. The ride will take about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on your speed. As you approach San Clemente, look for the signs directing you to San Onofre State Beach. You can lock your bike at the beach entrance.
Walking
If you're staying in a nearby area, you can enjoy a scenic walk. Start from the Laguna Beach Main Beach area and head south along the beach path towards Thousand Steps Beach. Continue walking along the coastline until you reach the trail that leads to Old Pacific Highway, where you can find the entrance to San Onofre State Beach. This walk could take roughly 2 to 3 hours, depending on your pace, and offers stunning views of the ocean.
