Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from the South Lake Tahoe area, start by heading north on Highway 89 (Emerald Bay Road). Follow the signs for Emerald Bay State Park. After approximately 5 miles, look for the Bayview Trailhead sign on your left. The trailhead parking area is located directly off the highway. Note that parking may be limited, especially during peak tourist seasons, and there may be a parking fee, so be sure to arrive early to secure a spot.

• Public Transportation

  Public transportation options are limited in the Lake Tahoe area, but you can take the BlueGO bus service. Check the current schedule to see if a bus route services the Emerald Bay area. If you are able to take a bus, you will need to get off at the nearest stop to Emerald Bay Road and then hike approximately 1 mile to reach the Bayview Trailhead. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes, as the walk may involve some uneven terrain.

• Bicycle

  For those looking for a more active approach, biking is a great option if you're already in the area. Rent a bicycle from a local shop in South Lake Tahoe, then ride north along Emerald Bay Road. Be cautious of traffic, as the road can be busy. The ride is about 5 miles and offers beautiful views along the way. Once you reach the Bayview Trailhead, you can lock your bike in the designated bike racks available at the trailhead.
