Malibu Creek State Park: Hollywood's Natural Backlot
Step into Hollywood history at Paramount Ranch in the Santa Monica Mountains, where iconic Westerns and TV shows came to life amidst stunning natural landscapes, offering hiking and a glimpse into film's golden age.
Paramount Ranch, nestled in the scenic Santa Monica Mountains near Agoura Hills, boasts a rich history as a versatile Hollywood filming location. Since 1927, it has served as a backdrop for countless Westerns, television shows, and even sci-fi productions, offering diverse landscapes from dusty frontier towns to exotic locales. Though a devastating fire in 2018 destroyed much of the iconic Western Town set, the spirit of the ranch endures. Visitors can still explore the historic grounds, hike scenic trails, and immerse themselves in the cinematic legacy of this unique National Park Service site. The remaining church and train depot, used in HBO's 'Westworld,' offer a glimpse into the ranch's more recent productions, while ongoing efforts aim to rebuild and revitalize this treasured landmark. Paramount Ranch offers a blend of natural beauty and Hollywood history, making it a memorable destination for film buffs and outdoor enthusiasts alike.
