    Discover more about Astro Orbitor

Astro Orbitor, a captivating spinner attraction in Disneyland's Tomorrowland, invites guests to embark on an aerial journey through a retro-futuristic world. This ride, reminiscent of classic science fiction and inspired by the imaginative designs of Jules Verne, offers a unique blend of nostalgia and excitement. The attraction's design features a central monument surrounded by a whirling constellation of planets and satellites. Guests board individual rocket ships, each equipped with a control lever that allows them to adjust their altitude during the ride. As the rockets ascend and descend, riders are treated to panoramic views of Tomorrowland, creating a sense of soaring through the skies. Originally known as Astro Jets, the first iteration of this ride opened in Disneyland in 1956. It was later reimagined as Rocket Jets in 1967, perched atop the PeopleMover platform, becoming a defining feature of Tomorrowland's skyline. In 1998, as part of a broader Tomorrowland renovation, the attraction was transformed into the Astro Orbitor, adopting its current retro-futuristic aesthetic. The Astro Orbitor experience begins with a winding queue that leads to the loading area. Once aboard their rocket, guests are secured with a safety strap. As the ride commences, the rockets rise into the air and begin their circular journey. Riders can use the control lever to elevate or lower their rocket, adding an interactive element to the experience. The entire ride lasts approximately 90 seconds. While the Astro Orbitor is a relatively short ride, its location at the entrance to Tomorrowland makes it a prominent landmark. The ride's design, with its gleaming planets and rocket ships, evokes a sense of wonder and adventure. However, due to its slow loading speed, wait times can be considerable, especially during peak seasons. It's advisable to ride early in the day or utilize Genie+ to minimize waiting. The Astro Orbitor is a family-friendly attraction with no height requirement, making it accessible to riders of all ages. However, young children must be accompanied by an adult. Guests with motion sickness or a fear of heights may want to consider the ride's spinning motion and elevated position before boarding. Over the years, Astro Orbitor has become a beloved Disneyland classic, offering a nostalgic nod to the park's history while embracing a futuristic vision. Its unique design, interactive elements, and stunning views make it a must-do for many Disneyland visitors. For those seeking a similar experience at other Disney parks, variations of the Astro Orbitor can be found at several locations around the world, including Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom (though currently under refurbishment as of May 2025), Disneyland Paris (Orbitron), Hong Kong Disneyland (Orbitron), and Shanghai Disneyland (Jet Packs). Each version offers its own unique thematic elements, but all share the same core experience of soaring through the skies in a rocket ship. Whether you're a seasoned Disneyland veteran or a first-time visitor, Astro Orbitor offers a delightful and memorable experience. Its blend of nostalgia, futuristic design, and interactive elements makes it a standout attraction in Tomorrowland, capturing the spirit of innovation and adventure that defines the Disney experience. Be sure to check the Disneyland app for real-time wait times and operating hours before heading to the attraction. And remember to keep an eye out for special events or seasonal overlays that may add an extra layer of magic to your Astro Orbitor experience.
