From Ocean Avenue, the main thoroughfare in Carmel-by-the-Sea, walk north on San Carlos Street for approximately four blocks. The Sunset Center will be on your left, occupying the block between 8th and 10th Avenues. The walk is relatively flat and takes about 10-15 minutes. Look for the distinctive Gothic Revival architecture of the building. Free parking is available in the 'North Lot' on 8th Avenue between Mission and San Carlos Streets, a short walk from the venue. Limited street parking is also available.
Taxi/Ride-Share
Taxis and ride-sharing services (like Uber or Lyft) are readily available in Carmel-by-the-Sea. A short ride from most points in downtown Carmel to the Sunset Center will typically cost between $8 and $15, depending on demand and distance. Simply provide the driver with the address, San Carlos Street at Ninth Avenue. Be aware that during peak event times, availability may be limited, so it's wise to book in advance if possible.
Public Transport
Monterey-Salinas Transit (MST) provides bus service to Carmel-by-the-Sea. From the Carmel Transfer Center, located on Ocean Avenue, the Sunset Center is approximately a 10-15 minute walk north on San Carlos Street. Check the MST website or app for the most up-to-date schedules and route information. A single ride fare is $2.50. This option is cost-effective, but walking is still required for the final approach.
Driving
From Highway 1, take the Ocean Avenue exit and proceed west into Carmel-by-the-Sea. Turn left onto San Carlos Street and drive for two blocks. The Sunset Center will be on your left. Free, unlimited-time parking is available at the Sunset Center North Lot on 8th Avenue between Mission and San Carlos Streets. However, parking can be limited, especially during events. Additional street parking is available, but be mindful of time restrictions. Paid parking is available at the Carmel Plaza Parking Garage on Mission Street just north of 7th Avenue.
