Public Transport
From downtown San Francisco, the Muni L Taraval line provides direct access to the zoo. Take the L Taraval outbound and exit at the Zoo station (47th Ave & Cutler Ave). From there, it's a short walk to the main entrance. A one-way Muni fare is $3, and visitors who show a same-day Muni receipt, transfer, or monthly pass at the ticket window receive a $1 discount on admission.

Ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft offer a convenient way to reach the San Francisco Zoo. The drop-off and pick-up location is off Sloat Boulevard at 47th Avenue, a short walk from the entrance. A ride from downtown San Francisco typically costs between $28 and $50, depending on traffic and demand. Be sure to confirm the fare and route with your driver before starting your trip.

The San Francisco Zoo is located at the intersection of Sloat Boulevard and the Great Highway. From the north, take Highway 101 south, then exit onto 19th Avenue and follow signs to the zoo. From the south, take I-280 north to the Westlake District exit and follow signs to the Great Highway. The zoo has a parking lot with entrances off the Great Highway and Sloat Boulevard. Parking costs $11 on weekdays and $13 on weekends and holidays. Free street parking is also available along Sloat Boulevard.
