Discover more about Mount Palomar Winery

Nestled in the heart of Temecula Valley, Mount Palomar Winery stands as a testament to the region's rich winemaking history. Founded in 1969 by John Poole, the winery was the second in the valley and has been a family-run operation for many years. Poole, also the founder of KBIG radio station, sought a tranquil agricultural venture and planted Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, and Riesling grapes. Mount Palomar is known for its stunning views of the valley, with vineyards stretching across 40 acres overlooked by the Palomar Mountain range. The winery has pioneered several winemaking techniques in the Temecula Valley, including the introduction of Mediterranean grape varieties. The winery also has a long history of producing excellent Port and Solera Cream Sherry. Visitors can explore the winery's underground tasting room, Cava di Vino, the oldest wine cave in Temecula Valley, built in 1969. The winery also offers a delightful patio with fountains, gardens, and covered verandas. The on-site restaurant, Annata Bistro/Bar, features a Mediterranean-inspired menu and a full-service bar, making it the only winery in Temecula with a full-service bar on its grounds. Mount Palomar Winery also hosts a variety of events, including live music, winemaker's dinners, and salsa dancing.
